Canine Evolutions, led by renowned cynologist Bart de Gols, is a leader in the field of canine behavior and training. With over thirty years of experience and a commitment to innovation, we are looking for an assistant trainer who can grow with us and eventually become a partner in the business.
Position Overview
We seek a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Assistant Trainer. This role is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in various aspects of canine behavior and training. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance to a partnership role within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting training sessions for dogs and their owners.
- Develop individualized training plans based on the specific needs of each dog.
- Support ongoing research and development of innovative training techniques.
- Collaborate with Bart de Gols and the team to ensure the highest standards of training are maintained.
- Participate in community outreach and educational programs to promote responsible dog ownership.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the business, including client management and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with dogs and a strong interest in canine behavior and training.
- Previous experience in dog training or related fields is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Compensation and Benefits
- The first six months of the position will be unpaid and treated as an internship in accordance with the L&I internship regulations.
- After the initial six-month period, compensation will be commission-based:
- 45% commission on clients that the candidate brings to the business and procures.
- 20% commission for all other work.
- The candidate will receive our Master Dog Trainers course for free (course value $25,000).
- A three-year commitment to Canine Evolutions is required. If the candidate leaves before completing three years, the cost of the course will need to be repaid on a pro-rated basis.
- The contract will be on a freelance basis, and the candidate will be self-employed, responsible for their own taxes and insurance.

Position: Dog Training Intern (Unpaid)
Location: Toledo WA
Duration: 9 months
Responsibilities:
Assisting with dog training sessions and classes
Learning and implementing positive reinforcement training techniques
Providing care and support to dogs in our facility
Assisting with administrative tasks as needed
Participating in educational workshops and seminars
Feeding, walking, and providing basic care for dogs in our facility
Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the kennel area
Monitoring the health and behavior of the dogs
Assisting with bathing and grooming as needed
Providing companionship and socialization for the dogs
